My thoughts

I like many serving and ex-serving Veterans, we are dismayed at the failure of government to acknowledge their lack of understanding and comprehension of the value and price paid by many in the service off Australia.

We in the Veterans space feel the disingenuous platitudes of government do not serve the Veteran and their families well at all. Politicians will tell you that they pay a heavy price not many others in our community are willing to accept!!! I ask them to pull on the uniform walk the paths of others on the two-way rifle range to get a fuller understanding of the exigencies of service for the Veteran and their families and community.

I pose a question to you all, as a Veteran and like many other Australians pay a large amount in tax on superannuation, taxed going in, taxed coming and then taxed whole of life on exiting the ADF. I will stand corrected, politicians on completing a requisite number of years in parliament do not pay tax on their pensions as Veterans do!!!

I am on a ComSuper pension and required to pay tax without any recognition of the number of years served against that of a politician, who has never suffered deprivation that all Veterans and their families have endured whilst serving.

I am not alone in this space and ask for your constructive comments.
